Sam's story
Reassurance from doctors convinced Sam that inherited cancer risk was not a concern, but her DNA Screen results told a different story. She has a high-risk BRCA1 variant, meaning lifetime risks of >70% for breast cancer and >40% for ovarian cancer. Sam is on the waiting list for a preventive mastectomy. With some suggesting this is “too dramatic”, Sam says “breast cancer and six months of chemotherapy is dramatic”. Read more about Sam’s story here.
